Google Penalizes Widget Links
Google announced early in the morning that they will remind Webmasters not try to use widget links as a link building strategy. Google said, “We want to repeat our policy to create keyword-rich, hidden or subordinate links embedded in widgets that are distributed across different sites.
They actually have a smell left over widget in February 2015, so it’s a memory. But this type of warning published in the Google Webmaster blog this morning is likely to cause Webmasters to receive notifications about manual actions in the Google Search Console when they use widget links in this way.
Google states that although “widgets enrich website owners experience on their website and engage users” that there are “some widgets links to a website that a webmaster does not have editorial space and contain anchor text that the webmaster does not control Google looks more and more of this and is now clear to say “they are considered a violation of Google’s Webmaster policy.”
